Mono

Mono-A - Sterling Silver Dinner Knife

Mono A is the foundation of Mono’s design history. Created by designer Peter Raacke in collaboration with Herbert Seibel, third generation of the Seibel family business, it was first introduced in 1959. The vision was clear: a flatware collection with timeless design, made to be produced simply and sustainably.

At its launch, Mono A was seen as too radical—its stripped-down simplicity was far ahead of its time. But design history proved Raacke right. In 1973, Mono A received its first major recognition, the Federal Prize for Good Form. Decades later, it has become a true classic: award-winning, enduring, and continually relevant. Today, Mono A is part of the curated collection at JANGEORGe Interior Design & Furniture.

Crafted from 18/10 stainless steel, each piece carries the satin brushed Mono finish, with a mirror polish also available. The knife blade, made from hardened blade steel, guarantees lasting sharpness. For added versatility, the knife comes in two versions: the original short blade and a longer alternative—both equally functional, the choice purely personal. Mono A also extends beyond the essentials with serving pieces from salad servers to cake servers and snail forks.

Practical and lasting, all pieces are dishwasher safe, and with the right care, they will remain companions for decades.

Mono A embodies what design at its best can achieve: reduction, elegance, and longevity. A flatware collection that not only shaped Mono’s identity but also continues to set the standard for timeless design—available through JANGEORGe Interior Design & Furniture.
